about

After 7 months in the making, Sydney producer P.R has finally dropped his much anticipated debut mixtape ‘Pre-Heated”, which is the first instalment and lead up to his major album ‘The Chopping Board’. ‘Pre-Heated’ is hosted by one of New Yorks major DJ/Producer extraordinaires ‘Statik Selektah’.

“The title speaks for itself, this project will warm my listeners up and prepare them for my major album”, as quoted by P.R.

‘Pre-Heated’ is mainly a sample based Hip-Hop project, which brings forth a clash between a range of different styles, including, Soul and Jazz. Each track has its own vibe and sound, one track could give off a hard raw underground feel, while another could give you a relaxed soulful feel.

‘Pre-Heated’ is made up 13 tracks, which feature artists from all around the globe, including, ‘Naledge’ from ‘Kidz in the Hall’, ‘Chaundon’ from Hall of Justus, one of U.K’s most well known MC’s ‘Mystro’, Underground legend repping Staten Island 'JoJo Pellegrino', Adelaide’s very own superstar singer ‘Carla Waye’, Melbourne’s Hip-Hop/Soul duo ‘Cee & Bekah’, Sydneys local well-known hip-hop artist '13th Son', Sound Kamp’s very own T.I.G, & much more.

This is just the beginning of what P.R has to offer, ‘Pre-Heated’ will give listeners a taste of what’s to come, with this released, as well as a bunch of others in between, 2010 looks promising for both P.R and his major album.

Track Name: Better Off (Feat. 13th Son & C-Major)
Verse 1:

Am I better off without it? Better now I’m older?
Better in the summer, tho I like when it’s colder?
Am I better off making a pop song with appeal?
Release my inner bogan so I’m “skiphop” for real?
Am I better off with a southern cross on my arm?
So you know that I’m proud of this place I call home?
Am I better of dead, like John Cusack?
Nah, like the paper boy, I just want my money back!
I’d be better off without it, cos sometimes it’s depressing
Knowing nobody really wants to hear what you’re pressing!
So who’s present? Who’s in attendance?
Who’s gonna pull their finger out and stop pretending?
I’d be better off keeping my mouth shut, but fuck it!
There’s too many now getting props that don’t deserve it.
It’s better if you earn it; learn to make a difference,
Discern how to innovate and still run your business!

Verse 2:

Am I better off without you looking over my shoulder?
Cos most of you soldiers wanna play controller!
I told ya I’m the one with the “S” chest!
But you still wanna front like Sydney ain’t got best!
Am I better of doing less, cos less is more?
That’s what you say when you can’t be really fucked anymore.
Would I be better off now if I just hung up the mic?
Like I’ve had my time and bowing out feels right?
Imagine that? No more raps, no more pressure!
I’m just Dario now, no more 13th Son of December.
Haha – man, damn, yo, it’s tempting
Find a new beginning from another chapter’s ending!
Find something new that perhaps I’m better suited.
Cos I don’t find it fun anymore to be deluded.
Am I better off just dropping it and letting it go?
“c’mon Darz, sleep on it, think about it tomorrow!”

Verse 3:

Am I better off to keep down and lock it up
Or roar like a lion until the world stops.
‘Cos right now it’s getting outta control
seeing friends sacrificed to this idol of gold.
I’m seeing people all alone, wonder where is the love?
Got my heart broke again, lost a little more blood.
Now am I better without her, a question to ask?
But If I doubt then I’ve wiped the good in our past.
Now I would be better off, if I had a little holiday,
Houdini style - well needed escapology
I’m pretty sure that I’m better off taking a break,
‘cos I feel stale and need a little time away.
Need time for the music to call me back,
‘cos I ain’t afraid to say it, feeling sick of this rap.
Am I better when I have it? Or better when I don’t?
Decide if you really wanna sink or float.
